Pastor’s attacker charged

A man accused of shooting and killing a pastor in the US state of Illinois has been charged with murder.



Pastor Fred Winters was shot by a gunman identified as Terry Sedlacek on Sunday during a service at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois.



The attacker then stabbed himself.



Two members of the congregation were also injured while trying to intervene.



Pastor Winters died in a nearby hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest while one of the two church members remains hospitalised.



A judge has ordered that the accused be held without bail.
