Jamaica drop six places in FIFA rankings
Jamaica have held on to their number-one Caribbean Football Union (CFU) rankings although they have dropped six places on the FIFA’s world list, to number 70.
The Reggae Boyz had jumped two places to number 64 last month to increase their standing over nearest regional rivals Trinidad and Tobago, who had slipped five places to 78th in the February world ratings.
However, the new rankings released today saw T&T jumping three places to 75 in the world.
This is the fourth month in a row that the Jamaicans are number one in the CFU.
There is only one chance among the top five CFU teams this month with Bermuda replacing Grenada at number five.
Cuba, 99 in the world, are still third behind Jamaica and T&T, with Haiti, 117 in the world, fourth.
European champion Spain stayed top of FIFA’s world rankings for the ninth straight month.
The top five is unchanged, with Euro 2008 runner-up Germany at Number 2 ahead of the Netherlands. World Champion Italy keep fourth spot despite losing 2-0 to fifth-placed Brazil in a friendly match last month.
