The Government of Spain has provided the necessary financial support to facilitate the presence of a CARICOM Mission in Antigua and Barbuda to observe the island’s March 12, 2009 elections.
In a release from the Spain Embassy, it said Spain’s assistance falls within the ambit of the long-standing CARICOM-Spain Cooperation Agreement and ongoing efforts to strengthen all aspects of the relationship existing between the Caribbean region and that European country.
The release also said that Jamaica’s former Director of Elections, Noel Lee, heads the Mission, which comprises representatives from the CARICOM Secretariat as well as individuals drawn from across the member states.
