OECS says crisis good for strengthening ties
Chairman of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Tillman Thomas, believes the current global financial crisis provides the opportunity for small countries to strengthen ties.
Thomas, who is also the Prime Minister of Grenada, said it is imperative that Caribbean people get involved with accelerating the regional integration processes, by pursuing many more joint initiatives.
Head of Corporate Services at the Castries-based OECS Secretariat, Nicholas Devaux, also believes the challenges created by the economic crisis underscores the need for deeper integration within the organization.
He said that it is critical for OECS members to coordinate the use of their limited financial resources to ensure that the regional tourism industry remains viable.
