Pakistani security forces have now taken control of a police academy that was seized by gunmen for eight hours.

Officials say 14 people died during 10 to 15 minutes of heavy gunfire.

Officials say the gunmen attacked while trainee police were doing their morning drill on the academy\'s parade ground.

They threw grenades before opening fire.

Some of the gunmen were said to be disguised in police uniforms and two are believed to have blown themselves up.

Pakistan\'s Interior Ministry official Rehman Malik says eight policemen and two civilians are among the dead.

He says 4 militants have also been killed and three others arrested.

The assault comes less than a month after gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, killing six policemen.
