The Express newspaper in Port of Spain, Trinidad said a Trinidad-born sailor was on board the American cargo ship which was seized by pirates off the Somalia coast last week.

According to the newspaper, 65-year-old Jamille Sabga was a crewmember on the container ship carrying food aid for Somalians when it was attacked last Wednesday.

The ship\'s captain was dramatically rescued on Sunday after three of the pirates holding him on board a lifeboat were killed by navy snipers.

The crew has since called on President Obama to do more to tackle Somali pirates.
