Volleyball qualifiers start tonight
Hosts Jamaica will open against Haiti tonight when the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Group ‘D’ Men’s International World Championships qualifiers serves off the National Indoor Sports Centre.
The qualifiers will run for five days.
The Jamaica/Haiti match is scheduled to begin at 7 o’clock, following the tournament’s opening fixture between St Lucia, one of the top OECS teams, and The Bahamas.
Jamaica will play alongside Cayman Islands and Haiti in Pool ‘A’, while Mexico, St Lucia and Bahamas will compete in Pool ‘B’.
Tomorrow’s second day will feature Cayman Islands against Haiti at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, while Bahamas tackle Mexico two hours later.
In the final preliminary round of matches on Friday, Mexico take on St Lucia at 5 o’clock in the evening and Jamaica face Cayman at 7 o’clock.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, with the final and third place play-offs scheduled for Sunday.
The two top teams will advance to the third round of World Championships qualifiers, which will be hosted by either Puerto Rico or Cuba from July 8 to 12.
