West Indies handed Bangladesh their first Test win overseas and only their second overall, when they crumbled to a 95-run defeat in the opening game of the series at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex in St Vincent today.

Chasing 277 for victory, the home team was dismissed for 181 with 9.5 overs remaining on the final day of the encounter surrounded by controversy because of the strike by the Windies first choice players.

Debutant off spinner Mahmudullah led Bangladesh to victory with a five-wicket haul. He ended with five for 51 from 15 overs. Shakib-al-Hasan chipped in with three for 39.

Earlier, Bangladesh resuming on 321 for five lost their last five wickets for 23 runs to finish on 345.

All-rounder Darren Sammy was the most successful bowler for West Indies with five for 70. Kemar Roach ended with three for 67, while Ryan Austin and Dave Bernard had a wicket apiece.

It was Bangladesh first ever Test match victory on foreign soil and their second win overall.

West Indies captain Floyd Reifer thinks the team played well despite losing.
