Australia take charge over England
Hosts England were dismissed for their lowest Ashes score since 1997 as Australia seized control of the fourth Test with a strong display on today’s first day at Headingley.
England, without Andrew Flintoff, opted to bat first but slumped to 72-6 at lunch and were all out for 102.
Stuart Clark took 3-18 before Peter Siddle 5-21 blew away the tail.
Matt Prior top scored for England with an unbeaten 37, while Alastair Cook made 30 after the hosts won the toss and batted.
In their reply, Ricky Ponting hit 78 and Shane Watson scored 51 in a brilliant stand of 119 as Australia reached 196-4, a lead of 94 at stumps.
Bowling for England, Stuart Broad has so far claimed 2- 29, Graham Onions 1-45 and Steve Harmison 1-55.
England are 1-0 up in the five-match series and are seeking to reclaim the Ashes.
