Forrest fire rages in California

More than two thousand residents have been ordered to evacuate ahead of a wildfire near northern California\'s Santa Cruz Mountains.



The areas of Swanton and the nearby town of Bonny Doon are under mandatory evacuation.



Daniel Berlant, spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said the fire began on Wednesday and up to yesterday it had burned close to three thousand acres.



Mr Berlant said more than 300 firefighters from several jurisdictions were trying to control the blaze fire.



However the spokesman said the wind and dry conditions are affecting the work of firefighters.



However, he said no injuries have been reported.
