Injuries and fatigue are threatening to severely weaken Jamaica’s men’s 4 x 100 metre team.
The first round of the heats will take place this afternoon, with Jamaica down to contest the third and final heat at 12.46 p.m.
Asafa Powell, who is suffering from a groin problem sustained prior to the 100 metre final on Sunday and Usain Bolt will not run in the heats.
Bolt says he will only run in the final.
Powell’s coach Stephen Francis says it is too early to say if his athlete will run tomorrow’s final.
Francis says the doctors are trying to get Powell ready for the final.
Powell anchored Jamaica to a world record victory in the event at last year’s Beijing Olympics.
