Tropical Storm Danny strengthens

Tropical Storm Danny strengthened a little in the Atlantic Ocean to the east of the Bahamas earlier today, although forecasters did not expect it to affect that country.

The National Hurricane Centre in Miami says the eye of the tropical storm that has maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour reformed further north.

Tropical Storm Danny is said to be moving toward the northwest near 10 miles per hour with a turn toward the north and an increase in forward speed expected to take place tomorrow.

Slow strengthening is also forecast for the next couple of days as the system moves toward the United States east coast.

On its projected path, the storm is expected to pass well to the west of Bermuda and not affect the island, which was spared the worst when Hurricane Bill caused scattered electricity outages last weekend.
