Summerbell holds slim lead in Caribbean Champs

Jamaican David Summerbell has retained the lead in the 2009 Caribbean Motor Racing Championship Series, following the second leg in Barbados yesterday.



Summerbell captured the last of the three championship races to consolidate his position as front-runner with 48 points, followed by Barbadian Mark Maloney, eight points adrift on 40 points.



The Jamaican, driving his Mitsubishi Evolution, also gained valuable points in race two by finishing second to Maloney



Maloney, in his Mazda RX3, had two victories to move into a challenging position going into the final leg in Guyana in November.



The team championship battle is very tight with Jamaica leading on 54 points, just two ahead of Barbados on 52.
