Defending champion Roger Federer of Switzerland, withstood a superb fight back from Robin Soderling of Sweden to win in four sets and reach the semi-finals of the US Open.

Federer will take on Novak Djokovic of Serbia in his 22nd consecutive Grand Slam semi.
Fourth seed Djokovic survived a tough encounter with Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, to win 7-6, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 to reach his third straight US Open semi-final.
In today’s second set of men\'s quarterfinals, Number three Rafael Nadal will play Number 11 Fernando Gonzalez of Chile, while Number six Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina will take on Number 16 Marin Cilic of Croatia.
In the women\'s quarterfinals, the impressive run of 17-year-old American Melanie Oudin came to an end at the hands of Caroline Wozniacki, with the Number nine seed becoming the first Danish woman to reach a Grand Slam semifinal.
Wozniacki won 6-2, 6-2.
Wozniacki will face 50th-ranked Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium in an unexpected semifinal, with the winner going up against either Serena Williams or Kim Clijsters in the final.
