Health Ministers to discuss H1N1 in Washington

The influenza A H1N1 virus is one of the main items on the agenda of a regional health ministers meeting this weekend in Washington.



Health ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will meet in the United States on September 26 and 27.



The meeting is being called to address a range of health issues in the Americas.



A statement from the Guyana-based Secretariat said while CARICOM has only recorded six H1N1 deaths out of 712 confirmed cases, the region should prepare for an increase in the number of incidents.



The meeting will also focus on the progress towards the establishment of a Caribbean Public Health Agency.
