Australia facing victory target of 201
New Zealand, choosing to bat, were restricted to 200 for nine off their allotted 50 overs in the final of the Champions Trophy against Australia at Centurian Park in South Africa.
Needing 201 for victory, Australia were two without loss after the opening over.
Martin Guptill was the top scorer for New Zealand with 40 off 64 balls, while the middle-order pair of Neil Broom and James Franklin shared a partnership of 65 for the sixth wicket in just over 14 overs.
Broom was run out in a mix-up with Franklin for 37, his highest score in one-day internationals, while Franklin was bowled by a Brett Lee yorker for 33.
Spinner Nathan Hauritz was the best bowler for Australia with three for 37 off his 10 overs.
Brett Lee chipped in with two for 45.
Australia named an unchanged team for the match, while New Zealand are without their captain Daniel Vettori, who pulled a hamstring during the pre-match warm up.
Jeetan Patel replaced Vetorri in the line up, while Brendon McCallum took over as captain.
