T&T knock out Deccan Chargers
West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo took three wickets to lead Trinidad and Tobago to a three-run victory over fancied Deccan Chargers in their Champions League Twenty/Twenty Group ‘A’ match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in India today.
Bravo ended with three for 24 from his four overs.
Needing to win to avoid elimination, Indian Premier League champions Deccan Chargers could only muster 146 for nine off their 20 overs in reply to T&T’s 149 for seven.
The result confirmed T&T as Group ‘A’ champions and left English county side Somerset as runners-up for a spot in the second round.
Adam Gilchrist top scored for Deccan Chargers with 51 and Rohit Sharma chipped in with 25.
Earlier, opener Williams Perkins scored 38 from 32 balls and Kieron Pollard got 31 off 14 balls to lead T&T to 149 for seven.
Bowling for Deccan Chargers, West Indies pacer Fidel Edwards led the way with three for 32.
