World Bank officials on three-day visit
A team from the World Bank has arrived in Antigua to discuss ways in which the financial institution could assist the Antigua and Barbuda government with private sector transformation and social protection, according to a report on www.cananews.net.
During the three-day visit, which follows quickly on the departure of a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank officials will hold a series of meetings with Finance and Economy Minister Harold Lovell and other senior ministry officials.
Those talks will examine how the bank could help the government implement its Fiscal Consolidation Programme and the other components of the National Economic and Social Transformation (NEST) Plan.
The World Bank representatives will also hold discussions with the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications on e-Government issues and with the government negotiating team on matters of compensation.
They will also meeting with the Public Sector Transformation Advisory Committee, the labour commissioner, the Government Training Division and the Trade Union Congress.
