The Baldwin Spencer Administration in Antigua and Barbuda has appealed for support from the country’s unions as it moves to institute a public sector wage freeze for two years.
Finance and Economy Minister Harold Lovell made the appeal during a meeting with unions yesterday.
The unions said they would support the government if it makes changes to the governance of the country.
They want the government to cut spending and better manage the divestment of government assets.
The Finance Minister said the government is moving to address their concerns.
The meeting was the first in a series of consultations to examine the government’s proposal to bring revenues in line with expenditure.
