Ricky Ponting planning for Chanderpaul

Australia captain Ricky Ponting said his team has a plan to stop prolific West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the upcoming three-Test series, which starts on Thursday at the Gabba.

Ponting said his fast bowlers will be concentrating on bouncing out the left-hander after they struggled to get the better of him when the two teams last clashed in the Caribbean last year.

Ponting said the bowlers were unable to get Chanderpaul out in the Caribbean, but he thinks the wicket in Australia will help them more.

In the three-Test series in the Caribbean, the West Indies lost 2-0 but Chanderpaul piled up an amazing 442 runs at an average of 147, with two centuries and three half-centuries in six innings.

Chanderpaul is once again expected to be the mainstay of the Caribbean side’s innings, as part of the experienced trio that includes Captain Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan.
