OAS observer mission says it will not interfere with Dominica’s electoral authorities
Head of the Observer Mission from the Organization of American States (OAS) said its seeking to assure that its presence in Dominica will not interfere with the local electoral authorities.
Steven Grier is leading a 15-member observer team for the general elections on Friday.
His comments follow concerns raised by the opposition.
Leader of the Opposition, Dominica Freedom Party (DFP), Judith Pestaina is taking issue with the arrival time of the OAS and CARICOM Observer Mission in the island.
The OAS observer mission landed in Dominica a little over a week ago and the CARICOM mission is due in the island today.
However, Grier has dismissed what he says are suggestions that the OAS team was brought to Dominica to investigate political parties.
The OAS observer mission is promising an unbiased assessment of the electoral process.
