The government in Guyana said it has implemented measures to tackle ongoing drought-like conditions.

Guyana has seen very little rain over the past six weeks and the drought-like conditions are expected to continue until March.

Chief Government Spokesman, Roger Luncheon confirmed that the authorities in Georgetown have placed restrictions on the distribution of fresh water.

They have also approved the digging of channels to access remote sources of water.
