Two Jamaicans hoping to secure berths in IPL auction
Jamaicans Carlton Baugh Junior and Wavell Hinds are among eight players from the Caribbean who will find out later today if they have been successful in securing berths in the Indian Premier League auction later this month.
Hinds played in the rival Indian Cricket League and will be hoping for a chance to compete in what have become international cricket’s premier multi-million dollar 20/20 tournament.
Rising West Indies fast bowling star, Kemar Roach is also among the list of Caribbean players.
The remaining players who have registered for the January 19 auction ahead of the upcoming season are Tino Best, Daren Ganga, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons and Ramnaresh Sarwan.
West Indies Captain, Chris Gayle, Fidel Edwards, Dwayne Bravo, and Dwayne Smith are all expected to compete in the 2010 championship, having already secured contracts.
Currently, Gayle, Bravo and Smith are all doing battle in the 20/20 Big Bash, while Edwards is injured.
