Australia earn stunning victory over Pakistan
Spinner Nathan Hauritz ripped through the Pakistan tail as Australia bowled out the tourists for 139 to seal a stunning 36-run victory on today’s fourth day of the second Test in Sydney.
Australia began the day facing defeat on 286 for 8, just 80 ahead with only 2 second innings wickets remaining.
However, Michael Hussey, who resumed this morning on 73, hit an unbeaten 134 as Australia closed their second innings on 381 to set Pakistan a victory target of 176.
Hauritz then took 5 for 53 as Australia bowled out Pakistan for 139 to avoid a first Test loss to Pakistan since 1995 despite conceding a 206 runs first innings deficit.
Umar Akmal top scored for Pakistan in the second innings with 49 runs
The victory means Australia take an unassailable 2-0 lead into the final Test at Hobart, starting on January 13.
Final scores in the game are Australia 127 and 381, Pakistan 333 and 139.
