Antiguan court to rule on extradition request in March

Antigua’s Chief Magistrate is to rule on March 25 whether the former head of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission, Leroy King, should be extradited to the United States.



King is wanted in the US on charges related to his alleged involvement in a US$7 billion Ponzi scheme allegedly operated by Texan financier Sir Allen Stanford.



King is accused of 10 counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, seven counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to launder illegal proceeds and conspiracy to obstruct the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.



Its also alleged that King shielded Stanford and his financial institutions from being investigated in exchange for bribes.
