US to resume Haiti evacuation flights
The United States is today expected to resume emergency evacuation flights for critically injured Haitian quake victims.
In a statement, the White House said airlifts were stopped last Wednesday because of what Washington described as logistical issues.
However, doctors warned that scores of people would die if the flights did not resume soon.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that some of the Haitian children identified as orphans by a group of Americans who were taking them abroad, may have parents.
On the weekend it was reported that the Americans were stopped at the border with Honduras, transporting the children out of the island.
However the group has stoutly denied wrong doing.
Haiti imposed new controls on the movement of children following the January 12 earthquake that killed up to 200,000 people.
Officials fear that orphans are now particularly vulnerable to being abducted and sold for adoption.
