Kashif Bernard and Shana-Kay Bailey were crowned winners in the Open finals of the Rosh Marketing Limited sponsored ‘Tournament of Kings’ which ended at the Constant Spring Golf Club’s racquet complex over the weekend.

Bernard won the men’s open final by dismissing national junior champion Dennis Coke 21-16, 21-19.

Coke was highly fancied to take the title having knocked out top seed Gareth Henry the previous weekend.

Bailey, a ‘B’ division player, took the women’s title following a 21-9, 21-13 victory over Stacey-Ann Blake, who had knocked out top seed Carla Grant in three close games earlier in the day.

Bailey was also crowned ‘B’ division winner by defeating Shakira Bailey 21-11, 21-9.

The ‘B’ division men’s title went to Gerald Isaacs, who beat Shawn Forrester 21-18, 21-17.

The next open event on the local badminton calendar is the Doubles Mania, scheduled for late April at the G.C. Foster College Auditorium.
