West Indies ‘A’ beaten in final
West Indies ‘A’ suffered a five-run defeat to South Africa ‘A’ in the final of the Tri-Nation Limited Overs Series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh today.
It was the Caribbean side’s first defeat in the series after winning four games on the trot.
South Africa ‘A’, sent in to bat, piled up 328 for seven off their allotted 50 overs with Rilee Rossouw top scoring with 80. He received good support from Stiaan van Zyl 62, Colin Ingram 41, Ryan Bailey 37 and Morne van Wyk 35.
Shane Shillingford was the most successful bowler for West Indies ‘A’ with two for 20, while Nelon Pascal had two for 83.
West Indies, needing 329 for victory, ended on 323 for six despite a century from Devon Smith. He hammered 115 off 120 balls. Darren Bravo 69 and Chadwick Walton 64 scored half centuries, while Brendan Nash was 47 not out.
