Marlon Samuels returns to cricket

Talented batsman Marlon Samuels will depart with Jamaica’s senior cricket team today to participate in the United States Cricket Association’s historic series, the Pearls Cup.

The series will be played over three days and bowls off tomorrow.

Samuels is making a return to cricket after the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him on May 9, 2009 for breaching its code of conduct.

He was found guilty of sharing team information with an Indian bookie prior to a One-day International against India in Nagpur on January 21, 2008.

The Tamar Lambert-captained team also includes Wavell Hinds, who played for the West Indies in the recently concluded 20/20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

The remaining members of the touring party are Danza Hyatt, Donovan Pagon, Dean Morgan, Carlton Baugh Junior, Nkrumah Bonner, Bevon Brown, Andrew Richardson, Shawn Findlay, Krishmar Santokie and Gavin Wallace.

Jamaica will play a 50-over match tomorrow and a 20/20 encounter on Saturday and Sunday at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill.
