Kumar Sangakkara and Tharanga Paranavitana both hit centuries as hosts Sri Lanka made 312 for 2 on today’s first day of the second Test against India in Colombo.

After Sri Lanka won the toss, Tillakaratne Dilshan made 54 before skipper Sangakkara 130 not out and Paranavitana 100 took control.

It was Sangakkara's 23rd Test hundred and Paranavitana's second.

The duo both scored centuries to help Sri Lanka to a 10-wicket win in the first match of the three-Test series.

Suraj Randiv made his test debut for Sri Lanka as a replacement for Muttiah Muralitharan, who retired from test cricket with a record haul of 800 wickets following victory last week in the first test.

India included Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina at the expense of Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh.
