T&T squabbles
The main opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) is urging the Trinidad and Tobago government to re-consider its decision to cancel a multi-million dollar contract with a British-based company for three offshore patrol vessels for use by the Coast Guard.
Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley says it’s imperative that Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar inform the nation about the reasons behind the decision of her five-month old administration to cancel the contract.
The 150 million pound sterling contract had been signed between the former Patrick Manning government and the BAE Systems at Portsmouth Naval Base, England.
However, Rowley says if the contract is scrapped it would be to the detriment of the security of the twin-island republic.
