Inter Zone football competition to end today

Published:Wednesday | November 10, 2010 | 8:44 AM

The final set of inter-zone games in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/Pepsi/Digicel rural area football competition will take place this afternoon with 12 games.

Among the interesting games is the match up between champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), and Grange Hill. That match will take place at STETHS, beginning at 3 p.m.

STETHS, who lead Group Four with four points, need a victory to remain on course to defend their title. They are closely followed by Grange Hill and Clarendon College.

The winners of each of the six groups and the two best second-place finishers will advance to the quarterfinals.

Rusea’s, Glenmuir, Garvey Maceo and Lennon High, who all have maximum six points from two games, will only need to avoid defeat to seal quarterfinal places as group winners.

Rusea’s will face Browns Town at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay; Glenmuir and Charlemont will face off at JAMALCO; Garvey Maceo will play away to Old Harbour at Prison Oval in Spanish Town and Lennon High will travel to Brooks Park in Mandeville to meet out-of-contention Manchester at 3 p.m.

The other teams in contention for the quarterfinals are Spot Valley, Frome Technical, Clarendon College and Old Harbour.
