The cholera death toll in Haiti has reached 724, with three of the deaths reported in Port au Prince.

The Ministry of Public Health is also reporting that the number of infected people exceeds 11,000 in different regions.

Authorities say they expect a worst-case scenario given the terrible conditions of drainage and water systems in the capital, inhabited by at least 3 million people.

The government is also working to strengthen its medical presence, given the alarming increase in infections and deaths.

Meanwhile, shipments of drinking water are now reaching in the Artibonite region where the infection started.

Since the outbreak on October 20, nearly a dozen people have died daily, and 50 to 60 cases are confirmed every 24 hours.
