Jamaican David Hoilett scored his maiden English Premier League goal to catapult hosts Blackburn Rovers to seventh on the ladder, following a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion yesterday at Ewood Park.
The Canadian striker, who is of Jamaican parents, struck an early second half goal to add to an own goal from West Brom defender Gabriel Tamas to rocket Rovers up the table.
It was a strike, which impressed coach Steve Kean just days after he signed a new long-term deal with the club to stay until 2013.
Born and raised in Canada, Hoilett is also eligible to play for Jamaica through his parents, but media reports indicate that he will stick with the land of his birth.
