At least 32 people have been killed in explosions at an army base in Tanzania's commercial capital, Dar es Salaam.
Officials say the multiple blasts from various arms depots lasted several hours at the Gongola Mboto military base.
The British Foreign Office says the city's airport was closed after the blasts.
Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kapambala Mgawe says the explosions were accidental.
Two houses and a secondary school were also destroyed.
Government officials say the death toll is expected to increase.
