The Blissett Cycling Club will stage the eighth annual Blissett Memorial Classic Bicycle Circuit Race on Sunday at the National Heroes Circle in Kingston.

The race which starts at 12 noon is in memory of the late Harold Blissett, who was the first Jamaican to win seven straight races in four meets.

Harold Blissett was rated as one of Jamaica’s greatest professional cyclists during the Town Moor era. Town Moor era is now the National Heroes Circle.

President of the Blissett Cycling Club, Winston Brown, says his association is very excited about hosting the event as Jamaica is preparing to stage the Caribbean Cycling Championships later this year.

He further says the club is hoping the event will renew an interest in cycling that will cause the authorities to give attention to constructing roadways with dedicated cycling lanes.
