Its Jockeys’ Guild Day at Caymanas Park

The 2011 Jockeys’ Guild of Jamaica race day will take place at Caymanas Park today with the well-supported nine-race programme featuring three trophy races, two in tribute to jockeys.
These are the three-year-old and up overnight allowance race for the George HoSang Trophy over the straight in honour of the legendary jockey and the Al Gopie Memorial Cup also over the straight, this for maiden four-year-old and up.
Gopie, a popular lightweight jockey, died tragically at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 20, 1999.
The Jockeys’ Guild Trophy, a restricted allowance two race, is also confined to four-year-olds and up and is to be run over 1400 metres with 13 declared.
DIVINITY looks the obvious choice from the convenient mark of 53 kilos under in-form jockey Dick Cardenas. Post time on the card is 12:50 p.m.
