Yohan Blake confirms for London Grand Prix

Jamaican young sprinter Yohan Blake has joined the star-studded 100-metre line-up for the two-day Aviva London Grand Prix Diamond League, which begins on Friday.



Blake will run against his two Jamaican teammates Asafa Powell, the fastest man in the world this year and Nesta Carter.



Blake is seeking revenge against Powell after he was narrowly beaten at the Jamaican Championships in June.



The race will take place on Friday’s opening day.



Eight other Jamaicans are down to compete on the first day.



Dwight Thomas will race in the men’s 110-metre hurdles, Kaliese Spencer, Ristananna Tracey and Melaine Walker are down to run the women’s 400-metres hurdles, Aleen Bailey and Sherone Simpson will run the women’s 200, Kenia Sinclair, the women’s 800 metres and national record holder Jermaine Gonzales is down to contest the men’s 400.



Another six Jamaicans are listed to compete on Saturday’s final day.



Marvin Anderson and Mario Forsythe will contest the men’s 200, Rosemarie Whyte, Shericka Williams and Novlene Williams-Mills are down to run the women’s 400 while Mardrea Hyman will compete in the women’s 3,000 metre steeplechase.



The London Diamond League is the final major track meet before the August 27 to September 3 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
