There is news this morning that the health of former Belize Prime Minister George Price has worsened.

A senior member of the main opposition People's United Party told the Caribbean Media Corporation that Price is now brain dead.

Price, Belize’s first prime minister and the country’s national hero, remains on life support at Belize Healthcare Partners, a private medical facility in Belize City.

The former prime minister was hospitalised last Wednesday after falling in the bath tub at his Pickstock Street home.

He was rushed to hospital with a head injury that required emergency surgery to remove a blood clot.

Price was put into a medically induced coma.

In the meantime, the diagnosis of the former prime minister remains private.
