Election results delayed in DR Congo
The publication of presidential election results in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been delayed by two days.
The result had been due before the end of President Joseph Kabila's term yesterday but officials say they have now been put on hold because of technical difficulties.
The opposition said it will not recognise President Kabila’s authority.
However, a presidential spokeswoman has sought to assure that a few hours' delay was not a constitutional power vacuum.
Kabila is leading the partial vote count, followed by Etienne Tshisekedi.
He had 46 per cent of the vote, with Tshisekedi trailing with 36 per cent with two-thirds of the ballots counted.
The opposition has alleged fraud in what are only the second polls since the 1998 to 2003 war ended in the Congo.
