Suspect in Westmoreland triple shooting arrested

The Westmoreland Police say they have arrested a man who was involved in yesterday’s triple shooting on Haddo main road in Whithorn, Westmoreland.

The police say about 6 o’clock yesterday evening, passengers were onboard a Toyota Hiace bus heading towards Savanna-la-Mar when the driver stopped to let off a passenger who disembarked then opened gunfire.

Three persons in the bus were shot and taken to hospital where they were treated and admitted in stable condition.

The police say a gunman was subsequently arrested and a revolver taken from him.

They say his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
