Campbell, Goule fail to advance to 800m semis

Simoya Campbell and Natoya Goule, Jamaica’s two representatives in the IAAF World Championships 800m, did not qualify for the semi-finals of their event.
Campbell, the national champion, had a strong finish in her heat and ended fifth in 2:01.43 which was not good enough to make the final.
Polish athlete Sofia Ennaoui, won.
Former Manchester High athlete, Goule, placed fourth in her heat with a time of 2:02.37 behind German Fabienne Kohlmann.
Goule went out strongly in her heat commanding the race for the first 400m but faded in the last 200m.
Goule’s heel was clipped when American Alysia Montano fell during the race.
