Social | Ambassador Jose Tomas Ares shows his Artistic Side
Dominican Republic Ambassador Jose Tomas Ares had guests in awe on Sunday, February 26, with his art exhibit at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.
The beauty of the cathedral was enough to captivate the eyes and hearts of first-time visitors, but it was truly complemented by the religious art painting by the Ambassador. Looking at the attention to details and the vivid images, it's hard to believe that it's just a hobby which the ambassador took up only a year ago.
The depictions of Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Pope John Paul 11 were very realistic, and the attention to details make it easy to believe that in another life this career diplomat was a professional artist, because of his undoubted talent.
Being Catholic, the ambassador felt compelled to do religious art, and donated his first painting 'Virgen Nuestra Senora de la Alta Garcia', the guardian of the people of the Dominican Republic, to the Reverend Kenneth Richards and the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
The formalities were brief, to allow guests the afternoon to enjoy the pieces.
