#ReturnToLondon: McLeod, Parchment move to 110m hurdles semis, injured Levy crashes out

Olympic champion and gold medal favourite Omar McLeod and Hansle Parchment are through to this afternoon’s semi finals of the men’s 110m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in London.  

McLeod, a former Manchester High and Kingston College athlete, won heat one in 13.23 seconds.

He was very slow out of the blocks but accelerated in last 30 metres to win the race by more than five metres.

McLeod, who is the current national champion, is the fastest man in the world this year, with a time of 12.90.

Parchment, the 2015 World Championships bronze medallist, finished second in heat five in 13.42 seconds.

The event was won by Orlando Ortega of Spain in 13.37.

However, there was a major disappointment for Jamaica after Ronald Levy, third fastest man in the world this year, hit the first hurdle in heat three and as a result failed to finish.

The semi finals of the men's 110m hurdles will be contested at 2:10p.m.
