Hagley Park Road in St Andrew is among a number of roadways to be upgraded and improved this fiscal year as part of the $12 billion allocated in the 2018/19 Estimates of Expenditure to improve the island's road infrastructure.

The 3.3-kilometre stretch is to be widened to four lanes, and new traffic lights are to be installed at a number of intersections to improve the flow of traffic along the busy corridor that runs from Half-Way Tree to Portia Simpson Miller Square.

The improvement works will also provide for the construction of sidewalks and the installation of street lights along the corridor.

A portion of the $12 billion road-improvement fund will go towards completing phase one of the Mandela Highway Improvement Project in St Catherine, as well as complete works on 54 local road works through subcontracts.

The cost of road improvement works on Constant Spring Road and Barbican Road in St Andrew is to come from the allocation, as will the cost of commencing the Ferris to Mackfield Road Rehabilitation Project in Westmoreland.
