Talkback Tuesday
Prime Minister Andrew Holness stated that requests are coming in for 20-storey buildings as developers seek to make better use of the land in the capital. In yesterday's #TalkbackTuesday we asked: "Do you believe Kingston is ready for a skyline of 20-storey buildings?"
Here are few of the comments:
- Yes, but while they are at it, do not forget to modernise our #FireServices. Can #JamaicaFire
Brigade handle fires in 20-storey buildings? Doubt it. And not to mention all the other essential services, garbage collection, sewage, water, etc .... @YaadMekI
- Nope, not at all. We need to focus on one project at a time. Our Government has good intentions but they need to focus on the problems we are facing now as a country. @CarbJaii
- I'd love to see this happen, but ensure that proper building codes are established and followed, ensure that the fire service is equipped, ensure there is a proper plan to modernise the city, to include parking and the additional traffic that will come. @Kevin22075221
- I support it. Buildings such as those towering above Singapore's business district are needed in Jamaica. We have limited land space, and must use it wisely. Also, it is better and more affordable to build up as it uses fewer resources and is more efficient for businesses. @Pythoria777
- Progress is a must, but please address the crime thing more seriously because police and soldiers are on the job and crime is still wreaking havoc. @AbdusInt1
