UCJ’s new automated system gets approval from Education Ministry
Dr Phylicia Marshall, acting chief education officer in the Ministry of Education, has lauded the University Council of Jamaica’s (UCJ) move to launch a new automated system which will manage and administer stakeholders’ input in the quality of assurance services to tertiary institutions.
Marshall was speaking Tuesday at a symposium at the Iberostar Hotel in Montego Bay, St James as part of activities to celebrate the 14th annual celebration of Quality Assurance in Higher Education Week.
“We note that the UCJ is introducing a new automated system to manage stakeholders’ inputs and the administration of its quality assurance services in higher education,” said Marshall.
“This is being undertaken as part of the government’s commitment to continuous improvement and modernisation of ministries, department and agencies. I am sure that with this business process automation initiative the UCJ will be able to function more efficiently in carrying out its work of quality assurance in higher education,” Marshall added.
The system will enable the UCJ to deliver its quality assurance services to higher education providers more effectively.
These include improved services in registration, institutional accreditation, transnational recognition and monitoring.
The UCJ’s new system is scheduled to be launched at the Iberostar Hotel on Wednesday, March 13.
