Shanieka Ricketts shattered her personal best for the third time this year to take the Diamond Trophy in the women's triple jump event at the Zurich leg of the IAAF Diamond League earlier today.

Ricketts leapt a distance of 14.93m to defeat Pan American Games champion Yulimar Rojas, of Venezuela, who jumped 14.74m. Ricketts' compatriot Kimberly Williams' mark of 14.10m could only see her finish seventh on the day.

Elaine Thompson, however, did not have as good a day as Ricketts. The reigning national champion finished third in the 200m event in 22.44 seconds, behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas, who won in 21.74 seconds. Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith was second in 22.08 seconds, while the Netherlands' Dafne Schippers was fourth in 22.46 seconds.

Thompson returned later in the evening to compete for the Zurich Trophy in the women's 4x100m relay event for Jamaica. Running the second leg, she was joined by Natalliah Whyte, who ran the first leg, Jonielle Smith on the third leg, and Stephenie Ann McPherson on the anchor leg. The team could, however, only place fifth in a time of 42.93 seconds. The race was won by Germany in a season's best 42.22, while the Netherlands, in season's best 42.28, China, 42.60, and Switzerland, 42.75 seconds, were second, third and fourth respectively.
