Join hands on the road to recovery
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I will like to use this opportunity to thank The Gleaner for giving me the opportunity to express my views.
The heavy rains that the island has been experiencing has caused a lot of damage, with some roads becoming impassable, flooding and landslides. This would mean that in the recovery efforts, the Government would have to cut the budgets of other ministries to redevelop the country’s infrastructure.
This is a time when we as the Church and the people must come together and pray for the Government, and also work towards getting assistance from overseas to see us through this recovery efforts and to turn around our lives on the road to recovery.
I pray and hope that the private sector, the diaspora and other overseas trading partners will provide assistance to the recovery programme.
Also, I would like to commend Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his Cabinet, who are doing a fantastic job as they continue to work to protect the nation from the COVID-19 pandemic.
