A party bus event attended by officers of the Barbados Prison Service and the Barbados Defence Force on December 26 is being considered by Government as a super spreader of coronavirus (COVID-19).

So said Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic during a press conference at Ilaro Court on Friday.

He noted that 17 prison officers and four defence force officers attended the bus crawl.

Bostic had announced during a press conference that of 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 recorded then, two were prison officers.

Aggressive contact tracing was started on Thursday night and will be completed by today, Bostic said last night.

The minister said, so far, there are 45 more confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

The cases include 32 prison officers and four defence force officers.

Bostic said about 200 members of Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds have been tested so far.

He noted that there are over 100 cases of COVID-19 under active investigation.
